The Kona Coast was known as the "Gold Coast", because from the BIG ISLAND higher elevations, the mountain altitude observation point , one used to be able to see a rim of gold surrounding the shoreline of the BIG ISLAND....that "ring of gold" were the schools of yellow tangs that once were in abundance!!!!... TANGS are trying to come back....but the tropical fish collectors have depleted the resource, lets hope temporarily...the moral of this story is only buy air fills from a dive shop that supports allowing the resource to return to its former glory...dont support the trop divers/collectors or their "dive" shops!!!
